News & Events » Pakistan Flood Reconstruction
Flood waters have receded, lands are drying & relief work continues - pockets of stagnant water need fumigating to rid dangerous mosquito species but we MUST re-construct devastated areas through:
1. Land cultivation (sustaining livelihood)
Target is to recultiave agricultural land from 40 villages covering approximately 1000 acres. Cultivation of 1 acre of land for wheat costs $116.28USD. Total required $116,280.00USD.
Since 15 October the best quality wheat seed & fertilizer have been supplied by SCI Pakistan & Young Volunteer Foundation to cover 500 acres BUT 500 acres still require materials. The cultivation process MUST be completed by early December (there is a dangerous possibility that in 4 months time there will be no flour for the basic food item bread) SO URGENT ASSISTANCE IS REQUIRED NOW.
2. Construction of single room houses for shelter & single room schools for children (ages 7 - 10)
Commencement of the reconstruction project has been made possible by the generous support of SCI Japan and SCI USA.
