Who We Are » What We Do
International Volunteers for Peace (IVP) focuses on organising volunteer projects - historically known as 'workcamps', around worthwhile community needs and causes, for which it recruits participants from Australia and all across the world through its global network. Our voluntary projects fall under 2 categories.
A workcamp is a place where people of diverse race, ideology, nationality, and age live together for two to four weeks while working on a community project anywhere in the world. The workcamps are initiated and organised by community groups and are designed to be of tangible benefit to the local community. They enhance local initiatives and do not replace paid labour. Workcamps usually take between 8 and 20 international participants who work and socialise with the local community. Projects take place all year round but in Europe most occur during the Northern hemisphere summer.

IVP's Long Term Volunteering programme gives volunteers the possibility to stay abroad from 3 to 12 months, working in a project that cooperates with a local Service Civil International (SCI) branch or partner or a NVDA partner. Volunteers are provided with food, accommodation and some pocket money and are usually covered by a basic SCI insurance. Travel costs to the project are generally covered by the volunteer and there are no age limits.
