Does your community group have a project that could use a team of willing volunteers? IVP can bring an international team of 5 to 15 volunteers to give practical help for anything from 3 days to 3 weeks.
About IVP
IVP is run entirely by volunteers. We exchange volunteers with our partners worldwide, so that people from different cultures can work together at a grassroots level. Read more about IVP and the SCI network.
How hosting works
Volunteers contribute and learn while working in a practical way on local issues. The group lives and works together, building cross-cultural understanding and cooperation, and a more positive vision for our world and the future.
What the volunteers can do
Previous volunteer groups have worked on heritage conservation, environmental protection and community events, and have assisted underprivileged groups. Tasks can be as varied as manual labour, research and social work.
Your role as a project partner
- Have a concrete project that benefits the local community and does not replace paid labour, and organise and direct the work.
- Find accommodation for the team.
- Contribute to the running costs.
- Stay in touch. IVP is keen to build an ongoing relationship with each project partner, so that volunteers and local committees can track progress and build on goodwill.
Costs
Costs are kept to a minimum. Accommodation needs to be found for the volunteers, and we ask project partners for a contribution to running costs. Email us and we can talk through what this means for your project.
Past partners and projects
Our project partners have included Shalom Aboriginal College in Townsville, CERES in Melbourne, Breakaway on the Central Coast, the Taralga Showground Committee, the Goulburn Agricultural, Pastoral and Horticultural Society and the Tallong Apple Day Festival.

The experience changed my life, cementing some choices but also sending me off in new directions … Immense and sincere thanks.
